 SD or HD?  Which video format is right for you?    

If your home is equipped with a Blu-ray player and a high definition TV (HDTV), then you have the necessary equipment to enjoy HD video.  SD (or standard definition) still outnumbers HD in American households by 80 million units.  Fred Fox realizes that you should have a choice when choosing your video, which is why we make both HD and SD available to you.

What’s the difference between DVD and Blu-ray?

If you've ever seen high-definition (HD) video on an HDTV, then you know just how incredibly sharp the picture is and how vivid the colors are.  In fact, HD offers five times the amount of detail compared to standard-definition (SD). The format also supports high-definition audio for crystal-clear sound and music.

Will Blu-ray replace DVD's?

The expectation is YES.  Blu-ray has received broad support from the major studios as the successor to today's popular DVD format.  Although superior in quality and sound, the two formats (Blu-ray and DVD) will most likely co-exist for quite some time.

If I play a DVD on an HDTV, will the picture be HD? 

No.  Playing a DVD on an HDTV will deliver a standard definition (SD)       picture. You would need a Blu-ray disc in a Blu-ray player for HD viewing.

With an HD Wedding Package, can I also get a SD version?

Yes. That option is available for all HD Wedding Packages at Fred Fox.  The HD (Blu-ray) footage is downconverted to SD so that standard-definition DVD copies can be made.

Will a Fred Fox Blu-ray Disc play on Sony Play Station 3?

Absolutely.  When you’re not playing the latest games, our Blu-ray Discs are compatible with the Sony Playstation 3 gaming system.
